ROCK THE VOTE'S ELECTION FM
In the 2012 election, only 45 percent of young Americans (ages 18 to 29) turned out to vote. And since Rock the Vote’s mission is to increase youth-voter turnout, they needed to make voting more attractive to their target. But incentivizing anyone to vote is illegal.
So we created a sneaky way to reach the youth of America by offering brand new, never before heard tracks from artists like Head & the Heart, Local Natives and Watsky, only available at the polls. All you had to do was go to electionfm.com, type in your address, then your GPS guided you to your local polling station. Once you were close enough, the music was unlocked.
Over 100 thousand polls across the country were geotagged, turning this into the world's first geolocated music. And Rock the Vote reported a 5% increase in youth voter turnout overall. That's more than 2.3 million more youth voters.
